Travelogue - Karwar-Dandeli Trip

Day 1: 29 May 2008
Started the morning very early left home at 4.30 to catch the 6.00 train from City Railway
Station. Took the Jan Shatabdi to Hubli. Reached Hubli at 13.45, Sanjay came to pick us up at the railway station. Took a rick to Yamuna's Uncles place. Had a sumptous lunch at their place, spent chatting till 16.30. Then took a bus to Karwar a proper no frills KSRTC bus. It was a good ride, bus was jam packed. Reached Karwar at 21.00, checked into Hotel Bhadra.
It is an OK hotel, again nothing much to speak about.

Day 2: 30 May 2008
Started the day late, woke up at 10.00, had breakfast and got out of the room by 11.30. Tried going to the Devbagh island. Apparently only folks staying at the JLR can get access to it. ANyway had to find another alternative so decided to hit Gokarna.
Had good lunch, with karwar special fish fry. Took a cab to Gokarna had to bargain a lot to reduce the price from 1400 to 1000 :). Gokarna is about 65Kms away from Karwar port. Reached Gokrana and headed to the Mahabeleshwar temple, it was closed till 17.00 and it was just 15.00. So decided to go head to OM Beach. OM beach is one beautiful and colorful beach. It was not at all crowded, hardly about 10 people were present at that time. Spent an hour or two there and headed back to Karwar. Got down at Rabindranath Tagore beach. It was 18.30 beach was crowded as any city beach would be at that time of the day. We then headed back to the hotel, took shower and had good dinner.

Day 3: 31 May 2008
Checked out of Karwar and moved on to Dandeli. Reached JLR at 13.00, had lunch and went for the most amazing Kali white water river rafting experience. On heck of an experience, that I can't express in words. It is a 9KM stretch with about 8 rapids and the whole thing took around 3 hours to complete.

Day 4: 01 Jun 2008
Woke up early at 5.00 and went for the Jungle Safari in an open jeep. Dandeli Jungle in the mornings are real calm and serene. Overall I enjoyed the Dandeli trip to the hilt.
Reached Hubli at 12.30, met Yamuna's Uncle and family. They dropped us to the Railway station. Reached Bangalore late in the night at 23.00
